Handling services at Bristol International Airport for private aircraft will now be provided entirely by Bristol Flying Centre (BFC), it was announced recently. \rBristol Airport became mandatory handling in September. Lulsgate-based BFC, now part of a group which includes Centreline Air Charter, won the contract following an investment in equipment and facilities. \rEBAN spoke to Julian Telling of BFC about the deal: "Bristol needed someone who had a presence at the airport. We were already there with a modern building, providing fuel and de-icing equipment. It was a move we wanted, and we were the obvious choice."\rBFC's investment includes a two GPUs, a fleet of Mercedes 10-seat people carriers, and its own VHF operations frequency. The handling facilities are especially geared to executive charter operators, BFC say, with an executive lounge where vip customers can experience the red carpet treatment and "are waited on hand and foot." According to Telling, Stephen Spielberg's Dreamworks aircraft is a regular visitor at BFC.\r"Celebrities want an anonymous transit. They want to be able to land, get into their limousine with blackened windows, and not have screaming fans asking for autographs. We make sure there are no paparazzi around, and we can take cars onto the ramp beside the aircraft, which is actually quite rare," said Telling.\r"We also provide a very fast service. We had a Gulfstream in from Cambridge recently. It landed, we fuelled it, the passengers went aboard. From touchdown to takeoff, the whole thing took 22 minutes. There aren't many people who can do that. \r"We pre-clear Customs and Special Branch if required. As soon as the engines are turned off, we are all over it like a bad rash. I am very impressed with the set up. \r"The volume of executive air charter business into Bristol has quadrupled in the last few years. I fly professionally for the business. If I had the handling that we provide at the airports I go to, I'd be a very happy pilot," Telling concluded.
