Cirrus Design Corporation reports that orders for its SR20 have topped 500. One fifth of those orders have come in 2000. \rOf 538 sales globally, 105 are from Europe, including 61 in Germany, 19 in the Netherlands, six in England, five in Austria, three in Belgium and one each in Greece, Italy and Norway. \rPresently, the SR20 four-place, single engine aircraft is being produced at a rate of one every five days at Cirrus' manufacturing facility in Duluth. According to company forecasts, production should increase to one plane every working day later this year. To date, sixteen SR20s have been completed. \r"Cirrus has been actively applying measures to improve production rates at all three company facilities," explained Cirrus president and ceo Alan Klapmeier. "Tooling is being duplicated, the installation of the interior is being refined and a second shift of employees is now in place in Duluth. A formal training plan has been established to improve efficiency and expedite the integration of new employees."
