Phil Boyer, president of the International Council of Aircraft Owner and Pilot Associations (IAOPA), was the guest speaker at the roll-out of Socata Aircraft's new model TB-20 GT. He told the assembled body of European aviation leaders: "To maintain the pace and volume of current growth, it is imperative that all of us involved in general aviation continue to cooperate in resolving transnational issues of aircraft certification standards, operational requirements and other questions that affect both producers and users."\rAmong issues urgently in need of internationally agreed solution, Boyer said, "is the concern that advances in communications, navigation, surveillance and air traffic management systems may soon result in equipment and crew requirements that will not be affordable for all but the upper corporate strata of GA.\r"In addition, there is fear that some of the proposed traffic management systems might severely limit airport access by operators. These are all matters that demand our attention, not in isolation, but in ever-closer collaboration across our fading national boundaries."\rBoyer was speaking on behalf of 400,000 members of the 51 national AOPAs that make up IAOPA. He noted the revitalisation of GA production in the US and the increasing number of pilots in several countries. He concluded by promising to redouble IAOPA's advocacy on GA's behalf and stating that it is the manufacturers duty to provide useful technology at fair prices.
