UK "virtual training college" comes second in international training awards
Oxford Aviation College (OAC) was runner-up in the Flight International Aerospace Industry Awards in the "improving standards in safety and training" category. The awards were announced in Singapore on February 23. OAC's distance learning course allows pilots to learn, via the internet, the theory they need to be a professional pilot.

Oxford Aviation College (OAC) was runner-up in the Flight International Aerospace Industry Awards in the "improving standards in safety and training" category. The awards were announced in Singapore on February 23.\rOAC's distance learning course allows pilots to learn, via the internet, the theory they need to be a professional pilot. The college was runner-up in the award, which was open to any organisations worldwide that provide pilot training, simulation and system design, and projects to improve global air safety. The winner of the category was BAe systems.\rOAC director of training Anthony Petteford said that the recognition was particularly pleasing because it came despite competition from "multi-national, multi-million pound companies". \rThere were ten categories to the awards, with Boeing, Lockheed and British Airways among the competitors.
