Rolls-Royce AE 3007 engines power record-breaking flight
Powered by Rolls-Royce AE 3007 turbofan engines, American adventurer Steve Fossett and two co-pilots have established a new record for around-the-world flight by a medium-weight aeroplane. Flying a Citation X, Fossett and co-pilots Darrin Adkins of the USA and Alex Tai of the UK covered the distance in 41 hours, 13 minutes, 11 seconds while averaging 559 mph (894.4 kph).

Powered by Rolls-Royce AE 3007 turbofan engines, American adventurer Steve Fossett and two co-pilots have established a new record for around-the-world flight by a medium-weight aeroplane.\rFlying a Citation X, Fossett and co-pilots Darrin Adkins of the USA and Alex Tai of the UK covered the distance in 41 hours, 13 minutes, 11 seconds while averaging 559 mph (894.4 kph). The flight originated and ended at Los Angeles International airport and broke the previous record by six hours and 70 mph (112 kph).\rThe record is awaiting final certification by both the Federation Aeronautique Internationale and National Aeronautical Association.
