\rBristol Flying Centre has initiated an online flight planning service aimed predominantly at the general aviation community. \rwww.fliteplan.com is currently available through a pc with an internet connection from 0700-2000 UK local time, increasing to 24-hour access as demand increases. The service allows aviators to file their flight plan through an aviation professional who then checks and amends each submission. The site also allows pilots to obtain weather forecasts and NOTAMs worldwide. Bristol Flying Centre claims that this is the first online planning service in the world.\rEach flight plan costs £5, payable by credit card. The service's launch is just prior to the cessation of NATS' free planning services. flightshop.com, offering pilot accessories, is coming soon, the centre reports.
