\rLondon City Airport has welcomed an announcement by Lord Macdonald, UK minister of transport, that the government will be contributing £30 million towards the extension of the Docklands light railway to the airport. \rThe £100 million project will be a partnership between public and private finance. The link should be open by 2004, and trains are expected to be operated at 10 minute intervals, reaching Bank (central London) in 20 minutes. Richard Gooding, managing director of London City Airport, said: "This is a welcome boost to this exciting scheme and London City Airport looks for-ward to playing a full part in the development, as it will improve passenger access to the airport.
