Very much a Learjet: 60 arrives in Nuremberg
There are currently about 48 Learjets registered in Germany; one elderly 24D, two 36As, three 31As, five 45s, eight 55s, eight 60s and an unprecedented 21 Learjet 35s. Jet Connection Business Flight AG of Nuremberg registered a second Learjet 60 during January. EBAN spoke to George Biesing, sales manager, about his company's brand new aircraft and about the continuing popularity of the Learjet in Germany.

\r"The Learjet is well accepted with our clients," said Biesing. "Buying the 60 is the logical outcome of using the 55. Jet Connection has existed since 1997, when we started with one Learjet 55. We bought another because we were pleased with it, but the last one was sold in January with the arrival of the 60.\r"The 60 is modern, with a light and spacious interior and a good range of 2,300 nm. Our customers prefer it, even though it works out to be slightly more expensive to charter, to something like an Astra SPX or Citation VII. It looks beautiful," he enthused. "I guess, also, they like our service."\rThe brand new Learjet 60 is configured for seven passengers and also has a washroom, video facilities and a music system. Travelling primarily to European destinations such as Zurich, Rome, Poland and the UK, the Learjet 60 has clocked up nearly 100 hours so far. It has a GPS system, TCAS and a ground proximity warning system, which is said to be a consideration for a number of Jet Connection's passengers.\r"We usually have a flight attendant aboard, unless passengers specifically ask for privacy." What kind of privacy, Mr Biesing? "Normally I don't ask, but we had one guy who said: "If I fall asleep, I usually have my mouth open and I am embarrassed if the young girl sees me."\rWith a milestone 50 Learjets in Germany approaching, Biesing believes that Bombardier's good reputation in the country is integral to the model's success, although he added: "The 60 is very much a Learjet rather than a Bombardier aircraft, whereas something newer like the 45 is purely Bombardier. The weakness of the 45 is that it has a lot of electrical systems, which means there are a lot of possible sources of trouble."
