The first Cirrus SR20 to arrive in Europe came to General Enterprises of the Netherlands last October, to serve as a demonstrator for the Cirrus sales agent. EBAN reported last month that sales of the aircraft have topped 500, with one fifth of these in Europe. \r"Since it has arrived, we have sold 48 aeroplanes," reports Bill Middendorp, Cirrus European sales agent. "We already had 75 on order. Three have been delivered, we expect another two in a few weeks. Another five next month, and all these orders will be honoured by 2002. Most sales are in Germany." Middendorp says that he has had more than 1,700 requests for a demonstration flight. \rThe demonstrator was the third SR20 to be delivered. Ferry pilot Laurent Thijssen brought it from Duluth, Minnesota, via customs at Thunder Bay, Ontario, to Reykjavik, Iceland, after being slowed by bad weather west of Greenland. Total air time to the Netherlands was 27 hours.
