With plans to open new stations in Le Bourget, Geneva, Paris (CDG), Abu Dhabi, Jeddah and Riyadh, Swissport Executive says its growth outlook looks extremely positive.
Said a spokesman: “In Europe, the market is dependent on regulatory and restriction problems i.e. slots, curb on night flights, etc. There is a need for full service handlers, as aircraft tend to become bigger and require more handling.
“In addition, operators of intercontinental flights prefer global specialised organisation and Swissport is in a position to cover most destinations with either its own or affiliated facilities around the globe.” With this in mind, the Zurich-based company is also planning to open up to five FBO locations in Germany, notably in Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Cologne and Hanover. Through its acquisition of Menzies Deutschland, Swissport Deutschland said it became the largest independent ground handler in Germany.
The spokesman added: “One of our goals is to become a full global service organisation as we open for further partnership and joint venture agreements.”
Meanwhile in early April, Metro Swissport – the alliance between Metro Business Aviation and Swissport UK – says it enjoyed its best week for five years with more than 68 movements. The London base is in negiotiations to become the home of two BBJs.
Said a spokesman: “Because of the events of September 11, more slots have become available at London Heathrow Airport.”
