UK-based Avionics Mobile Services is making available a low-cost satellite telephone system for private and corporate aircraft.

Using Iridium satellite technology with global coverage, the SatTalk system has a one-time activation fee of $50 and $20 monthly subscription charges with calls then costing $1.50 wherever you are located.

Features include cockpit and cabin configuration, and easy disconnection for use independent of the aircraft.

Said Jim Herbert, md of Avionics Mobile: “This system is less than $2,000 as a handset and collective set of equipment. We see it as being very low cost.”
