Glenn E. Hess has been named president and ceo of Bell Helicopter. Hess, who is a veteran aerospace executive of the Boeing Co., will be responsible for managing the company’s engineering, manu-facturing, procurement and material management operations.

He fills a post at Bell that has been vacant since John R. Murphey was elevated to chairman and ceo in September of last year.
