According to Police Aviation News, a huge fire broke out in the police helicopter hangar at Tullinge Airport, Stockholm, in February. The base belongs to the Swedish National Police which have three to four helicopters based in Stockholm.
On the night of the fire, it is reported that three helicopters and one light aircraft were inside the hangar and all were destroyed. The fire had burned for around thirty minutes before fire-fighters arrived at the scene.
The whole base was destroyed. The aircraft lost were the first Eurocopter EC135P2 delivered late last year, two thirty-years-old Bell 206Bs and one Cessna 172 single.
Also lost were offices and the training school, although no-one was injured. Rebuilding has already started and in the meantime, the base of operations has been moved on a temporary basis to join Patira Osterman at Arlanda Airport.
