Helicopter meets racing car after completion
A brand new AS350B3 helicopter recently underwent full avionics installation and interior/exterior completion at Multiflght’s Leeds Bradford facilities.

A brand new AS350B3 helicopter recently underwent full avionics installation and interior/exterior completion at Multiflght’s Leeds Bradford facilities. The aircraft was purchased through Eurocopter’s main agent, McAlpine Helicopters, and arrived in a green state. “We were asked by the owner for a number of solutions to provide him with a state of the art helicopter in keeping with the avionics,” said managing director, Steve Borrowdale.

The completion comprised of a Honeywell and Garmin flight deck. “It’s a comprehensive fit now, with KCS55 compass system combined with Garmin audio, transponder and dual GNS 430s along with the Skyforce Observer II map system,” said Borrowdale. It is proposed that this KCS55 system be replaced with the K1825 EH51 on approval of the system later this year.

Hovering Ltd, the new owners, had Peter Boutwood (a motor sport designer) undertake the exterior and interior design: “Peter has previously been involved with designing for Damon Hill, MG Rover and the new Le Mans cars, as well as films including Batman,” said Borrowdale. The aircraft will now be put out on the charter market: “The seating arrangement looks very plush, so it is definitely not utility but corporate vip transport. It can go into a three or four seat configuration.” The exterior paint scheme is based on a cloud theme through to the night sky with stars.
