CAE and Emirates, the international airline of the UAE, are to launch business jet training at their jointly operated Emirates Aviation Training Centre in Dubai. As part of its contribution to the training centre, Emirates has purchased from CAE three full flight simulators valued at approximately $70 million: an Airbus A330/340, Gulfstream IV and Gulfstream V.
The twelve-bay training centre is set to open in early 2003. The two Gulfstream simulators will be dedicated to business jet pilot training and a Boeing 737NG/BBJ and Airbus ACJ/320/321 will be accessible to both business jet and airline pilots.
“The state-of-the-art centre will be the first outside the United States to offer such an important variety of business jet simulators in one location,” said Bob van Balen, CAE’s executive vice president of aviation training, commercial simulation and training.
Anchor customer Qatar Airways will begin training in April 2002 at a transitional facility in the Dubai Airport Free Zone until their relocation to the new centre.
With the start up of the Dubai centre, CAE will have a global network of nine training centres in seven countries around the world. As part of its contribution to the training centre, Emirates has purchased from CAE three full flight simulators valued at approximately $70 million: an Airbus A330/340, Gulfstream IV and Gulfstream V.
