Bombardier Aerospace has delivered the third Challenger 604 ordered by the Royal Danish Airforce over the past three years for use in a variety of special missions including maritime surveillance, search and rescue and executive transportation.
The specially outfitted Challenger was delivered almost a month ahead of schedule to RDAF representatives at a ceremony held at Bombardier Services facilities at Montreal International Airport. Bombardier Defence Services specialists installed and integrated the special missions modifications as prime contractor. The aircraft was produced at the company’s facility in Montreal and outfitted in Arizona.
“By leveraging our full resources, we were able to guarantee an entire package under one very cost-effective contract. This included the best platform and specialised completion capabilities, as well as customised pilot and maintenance training,” said Shawn Vick, senior vp of international sales.
All three 604 aircraft will be based at Vaerloese, north of Copenhagen and used in a multi-role capability, supporting maritime surveillance missions as well as search and rescue operations throughout Danish coastal jurisdiction in Europe and Greenland. They will also provide the government with long-range vip transportation and medical evacuation.
