MCM Maintenance Centre Munich reports that it has received its largest single work-order ever. Shareholder and German operator FAI Airservice has acquired Tyrolean Jet Service’s Citation V which crashed on May 25 in Florence, Italy by overshooting the runway after its brakes failed. All passengers, including musical legend Sting, and the flight crew were able to walk away unharmed.
A team of MCM and FAI engineers will dismantle the wreckage at Florence’s airport and transport it to Munich airport where it will be completely rebuilt over approximately six months at estimated repair
costs of $16 million including new paint, interior and several JAR OPS mods.
