EMS Technologies has seen the first of its new radomes installed on a GIV-SP production model. The radome is to be a standard fit on future GIV-SP production models. Also, EMS has made available its Aeronautical Data Terminal (ADT-1000), which it said is the first to support high-speed data access for email, internet, phone and fax from the air.
“EMS and Gulfstream have enjoyed more than a decade of collaboration, and we are pleased to deliver a product that will further differentiate the industry’s premier business jet,” gushed Dr Neil Mackay, EMS’s vp of the Satcom. Additionally, EMS has a contract to provide a similar radome for retrofit operations. The radome is said to accommodate a wide variety of DBS and Satcom antennas.
The availability of the ADT-1000 was due to be announced at NBAA this September. It is dual channel and is capable of bi-directional 128kb/s ISDN throughput. EMS says it is 50 times faster than previous systems.
“This is a very significant time for the next generation of airborne communications services, and EMS is pleased to play a leadership role in bringing high-speed data access to the air,” said Mackay.
