Gulfstream files for high-speed record
Gulfstream Aerospace is to file for another world speed record, this time for a Gulfstream IV-SP non-stop flight on August 12 from Bedford, Massachusetts to Moscow.

Gulfstream Aerospace is to file for another world speed record, this time for a Gulfstream IV-SP non-stop flight on August 12 from Bedford, Massachusetts to Moscow.

The aircraft was en route to Moscow to take part in the Moscow Air Show.

The fully outfitted GIV-SP departed Bedford’s Hanscom Field carrying four passengers and a

crew of three.

The aircraft reached a maximum cruise speed of Mach 0.8 before landing with NBAA IFR reserves at Vnukovo Airport in Moscow. The 3,895-nautical-mile flight was completed in eight hours and

23 minutes.

Gulfstream will file for world speed records in two categories – the 55,116 to 77,162 pound weight class, and the unlimited weight class.

“This is just one more notable accomplishment in the long and proud history of the Gulfstream IV-SP fleet,” said Joe Walker, senior vp for world-wide sales.

Bob McKinney, Med Ragheb and Kitty Ramage made up the flight crew during the record flight. The aircraft went on display at Moscow’s Zhukovsky Airport for the Air Show.
