Jet Aviation Basel has completed its first aircraft for public transport. The Airbus Corporate Jetliner originally arrived in Basel with a base-line configuration, and was completed for Qatar Airways within six-and-a-half months. Since being certified for public vip transportation, Jet Aviation Basel was subject to JAA outfitting guidelines particularly regarding fire prevention and smoke emissions.
The aircraft had several modifications, including: Installation of a satcom system and four additional fuel tanks to allow for long range and non-stop intercontinental flying. The Airbus has been outfitted for 36 passengers, and each will have a personal monitor, six video programmes and six audio channels. A satellite telephone and fax were also installed with internet data ports. The aircraft’s 6,000 cubic foot cabin is divided into an executive seating area for 20 passengers and first-class rows with 16 electrically controlled seats.
