Charter companies have applauded Eurocontrol’s decision to scrap a proposal fixing the cost of en route charges for air traffic control services. The European Regions Airline Association highlighted that the reform would have knocked on to steeper charter prices and subsequent job losses. It is believed Eurocontrol’s advisors intended to price out business jets along with regional airliners in an effort to clear European airspace for larger operators. Member states including France, Germany, UK, Italy, Sweden, Austria, Switzerland, Portugal, Norway and Romania actively opposed the proposal.
