McHaffeys keep it personal with Viation
Father and son team, Pat and Nick McHaffey have started a new aircraft sales and management company called ‘Viation’. Both bring a great deal of experience to the firm, which is at present dealing with activities in the Middle East. Pat McHaffey said: “With Viation we will be looking at individual personal projects, which the two of us can deal with, without having to rely on anyone else.” The company is still in the start-up process, and says it will be releasing some interesting news within the next month.

Viation intends to remain a small company, both to keep overheads low and maintain a personal level of service, which it feels can be lost within the larger corporations. Initially customers will arise from business relationships the pair have built up over their careers. McHaffey added: “People know us and trust us. Anything the client wants, we will review and give an honest opinion on. As we are not tied to any manufacturers, we can retain an independent stance, whether the individual has a leaning towards Gulfstream, Bombardier or Cessna.”

“More recently large corporations have been turned off of purchasing new aircraft”, believes McHaffey. “They prefer the option of fractional ownership, which is something we may also consider embracing. Although it is early days at the moment.” Viation believes that it will be catering for a sales market, which is now made up of smaller privately owned companies and wealthy individuals, who do not have to go through a board and can make a quick purchase decision.
