Ravenair, and its subsidiary company Liverpool Aviation Services (LAS) are investing around £750,000 building a business aviation centre at Liverpool Airport, having signed a lease with the airport company.

Ravenair, which moved most of its operation from Manchester three years ago, provides air charter, flight training, engineering and aircraft management.

LAS provides handling services for visiting business and general aviation aircraft, including collection of all airport charges, flight planning, government agency checks, on/off site passenger and crew transfers. The business aviation centre will enable it to house and maintain both in-house and third party aircraft in the hangar facility.

Ravenair’s managing director Jeff Nuttall said: “Liverpool gives Ravenair/LAS an excellent perma-nent location with 24 hour all weather access for aircraft, no slot co-ordination restrictions, good motorway connections and excellent geographical location to attract over-flying aircraft, which may wish to make a technical stop for fuel and other services.”

Construction work is due to start towards the end of July 2001, with completion expected by around mid November 2001.
