Cessna shot down over Israel
A Cessna aircraft was shot down by Israeli military aircraft after it flew into Israeli airspace, reports Air Security International. The pilot of the Cessna, who according to Lebanese officials was “mentally unstable”, died during the incident. Israeli officials reported that they were concerned the pilot had explosives onboard and that attempts to contact the aircraft were unsuccessful. However, according to the Lebanese government, he was not a suicide bomber.

Israeli brig gen Ron Kitrey told Israeli radio: “It took off from Beirut and turned in our direction and our air force went on the alert. As soon as it crossed the border it was accompanied by warplanes and attack helicopters.”
