Italian software system to spread across Europe

Italian software company Aerocom is making its fleet management software system, titled Aerocom System, available to the rest of Europe. Until the end of last year the system was only available for the Italian market.

It was translated into a fully English version last year and since January 2001 has been advertised outside Italy.

The software deals with the technical aspects of the management of the fleet. It is specialised in maintenance and monitors data relating to reliability, inventory, hangar works, flight management and aircraft status.

The system is aimed at companies with small to medium sized fleets comprising up to 50 or 60 aircraft. More than 20 aero taxi and helicopter companies and twelve maintenance companies are using the system in Italy.

Company partner Mauro Nones said: “It has been well accepted by Italian clients – not only because

of the language.

It has been designed to solve the problems associated with maintenance and aimed at the user of the aircraft. Other systems have been designed in accordance with the manufacturers – we believe it important to stay on the side of the user.”

Nones is optimistic about offering the system abroad: “It has been very reliable in 13 years of use with

Italian operators. We are confident that we will not be travelling all over the world in order to provide help. It has been tested for a number of years and upgraded.

“Most of the technical assistance has been possible to be conducted via email.”

Pondering the future Nones said: “It’s not the only system on the market. We have no real competitors in Italy but will face competition once outside this country – the major worldwide name is US-based Camp Systems.

“We want to expand throughout Europe, we have no reason to be limited, we will have to check country by country as we enter the markets. I am a bit worried by France because they like to speak French, but I hope in the aeronautical world they accept English,” he added.
