Norway expands helicopter rescue service
According to Police Aviation News, the Norwegian government is to improve its helicopter-based rescue service. Proposals include a 24-hour alert resource and the creation of a new helicopter base at Floroe. The provisions will mean one crew at each base will always be ready for take-off, and the new Floroe base – responsible for North Western Norway and the surrounding ocean – will increase the total number to seven. RNoAF and RNoN operate the aircraft on behalf of the Royal Ministry of Justice and police search and rescue division.
