The Bavarian Police are to refit their nine Eurocopter EC135 helicopters with PW206B engines. The EC135s had previously been fitted with Pratt & Whitney Canada’s PW206B engines. The upgrade will allow the aircraft to operate at higher category A take-off weights. The EC135s are currently used for 24-hour police and EMS duties, including winch use, night flying, camera and navigational training. Bavarian Police technical director, Karlheinz Maier, said: “We have extensive experience with Pratt & Whitney Canada and trust that the PW206B2 engine will bring added capability to our aircraft.”
