Casio has launched a second generation Global Positioning System (GPS) watch.
The original model has been upgraded with additional specifications and produced within a more compact case design. It will retail at $500.
Casio originally launched the world’s first GPS watch in 1999 which allowed the user to determine an exact location in current longitude and latitude positions by using an in-built satellite navigation feature.
The latest model, according to Casio, can produce a more accurate measurement position by using data from up to twelve satellites. The watch also includes a feature enabling the user to download and upload destination coordinates from a personal computer .
It also boasts a split window screen, for the time and navigational points, a destination alarm, re-chargeable battery and a track memory.
Casio’s GPS watch is currently being tested and used by several operators such as Cabair Helicopters of the UK .
