Introduced in October 2000 at NBAA, Ibis Aerospace has announced that the high-performance version of the Ae270 will be priced at $2,195,000 for initial confirmed deliveries. The single-engine turboprop powered Ae270HP features the Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-66A turboprop engine.
A spokesman said: “The large category engine, with a thermodynamic take-off rating of 1,583 ESHP, will allow the Ae270 aircraft design to reach cruising altitude faster, thereby improving fuel efficiency.”
The family of aircraft now includes the new Ae270HP and the Ae270P-with a PT6A-42A turboprop engine.
It is expected that the Ae270HP will appeal to the corporate and executive owner.
The new model will also provide an upgrade path for owners of the Ae270P in addition to owners of smaller Meridian and TBM-700 single engine turboprops.
The price of the Ae270P has been revised to $1,995,000, and now includes an integrated EFIS pilot's panel with full IFR avionics. Additional improvements include a variety of interior options and rear door-in-a-door to allow for passenger entrance or the loading of bulky items.
The spokesman added: “The new Ae270HP is intended to complement the Ae270P model designed for medium/short haul efficiency.
The Ae270HP provides additional mission capability where higher altitudes and increased speed are important. The HP model will include the same avionics, interior and entry door features.”
While the first production Ae270 flew in June 2000, programme director Milos Valis expects certification and first deliveries to take place in 2002.
