UK-based Aeroshine has successfully completed its first project, with the dry-cleaning of a Citation II at the CSE Citation Centre, Bournemouth. The company only commenced business in February of this year but is already looking to offer its services throughout Europe.
The company was the brainchild of owner Ian Sutherland, who said: “For years, I operated corporate jets which were regularly cleaned and yet we never got them back to the original look when they were first delivered.
“When you think about it, aircraft paints and leading edges go through a hell of a life with weather and terrible changes in temperature. And to be honest, cleaning has always tended to be the last thing done, especially by engineers.”
With this in mind, Sutherland learned about a dry cleaning system which is manufactured in the USA, and has been formally approved by both Boeing Aircraft and Airbus as a material permitted on their paintwork and leading edges. He says not only does it bring back the shine but imparts a residue that reduces corrosion.
Sutherland says he can complete any business aircraft in a day and concluded: “To date, I have signed up the Citation Centre and FASET at Farnborough, and we hope others are now in the pipeline. All in all, it’s a service to both their engineering facility and to their customers.”
