Eurocopter has launched its single-engined EC 130 B4 at this year’s HeliExpo held in the US. The EC 130 has been equipped with an automatic system for controlling rotor speed according to flight conditions to ensure that noise is kept to a minimum during fly-overs. The company reports that it will be one of the quietest helicopters in the world.
The seven or eight seat helicopter features a large canopy surface to provide enhanced visibility.
Interior arrangement on the standard model will include fans, lighting and carpets, with air conditioning offered as of the initial deliveries.
Customer deliveries are to commence in September this year. The schedule includes four helicopters going into service with launch customers in spring – the EC 130 is expected to log over 100 flight hours per month for the next six months. Customer feedback and operators’ questions will be monitored by a Eurocopter technical representative.
