Private owners to gain from Avcon alliance
The ExecuJet Aviation Group and Zurich-based Avcon Ltd are entering into a strategic alliance in order to strengthen both companies’ market presence.

The ExecuJet Aviation Group and Zurich-based Avcon Ltd are entering into a strategic alliance in order to strengthen both companies’ market presence.

While Avcon’s business aircraft management and consulting unit retains its present identity, Avcon Air Charter Ltd will – in terms of the alliance – be renamed ExecuJet Flight Operations. The alliance will be headed by Avcon ceo, Fred Muggli.

EBAN spoke to Muggli regarding the affiliation. He said: “We are very strong in aircraft operations while ExecuJet’s strength lays in aircraft sales and maintenance but not management – so this is an ideal combination of services that we are providing to the market.”

“We can provide anything from consultancy work to aircraft sales, maintenance and operations.”

Avcon’s current management fleet totals nearly 50 aircraft, ranging from lower end planes to Challengers, GVs and Falcon 900s.

In addition, a Global Express will soon be coming online. Customers may be found anywhere between Mexico and Singapore.

Said Muggli: “We definitely have more jets in our fleet, which is in keeping with the market trend. People are moving from smaller aircraft to bigger aeroplanes.

“I think it has a lot to do with the world economy; the market place has changed vastly from ten years ago. At that time, many people were hesitating before moving into the charter or ownership of an aircraft. They had to be very cautious of the shareholders and there were many other reasons apart. Now, however, it’s okay to show off your private aeroplane because everyone does it.”

The ExecuJet-Avcon alliance enables both companies to consolidate and integrate their European activities with Zurich International Airport, as an additional operating base, allowing easy access to key business centres. A spokesman added: “This partnership offers the accumulated knowledge and experience of two successful organisations to companies and individuals who appreciate the advantages and benefits of business aviation.”

Avcon Air Charter Ltd is the holder of a Swiss Air Operator Certificate (AOC) and is operating in

accordance with JAR-OPS 1 regulations. ExecuJet is based in Scandinavia, from where it provides charter services in Northern Europe.
