Signature’s Oxford, UK facility, previously known as CSE Aviation, has completed a major capital investment modifying its aircraft painting facility.
Having had a paint-shop and interior trim capability for some years, in recognition of the increasing demand for higher quality refurbishment, Signature says it decided to invest in a state-of-the art extraction and air conditioning plant, complying with today’s quality and environmental requirements. Advanced heating and new electrostatic spray equipment, says Signature, will ensure faster turn-around times and first class finishes.
Historically, the paint facility at Oxford has seen several hundred military aircraft and a steady flow of GA types. “In recent years,” said a spokesman, “the throughput of corporate aircraft types has increased dramatically.”
Signature is mid-way through a large paint programme with the Royal Air Force painting six Hawker 125-700 aircraft, for No. 32 (the Royal) Squadron. Additionally, the facility has recently undertaken a ‘very complex’ paint job on a new EC155 helicopter, involving a substantial amount of airbrush work, depicting ancient African paintings.
The facility can accommodate up to two light jets at a time, with capacity to fit the larger mid-sized types such as the Falcon 50 and commuter sized regional aircraft.
