David Ogilvy wins Guild Sword of Honour
David Ogilvy, president of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, has been awarded the Guild Sword of Honour of the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators for his contribution to general aviation. In 1991 he conceived and founded the General Aviation Awareness Campaign (GAAC) and took on the task of being its general director. Ogilvy went on to become executive chairman of its successor body, the General Aviation Awareness Council. In founding the GAAC he persuaded more than 20 different aviation associations, representing every activity from business aviation to ballooning that it was in their interests to support a single organisation. His services to aviation nationally have been recognised by the award of an OBE.
