Swedish pilot Alf Holmberg is intending to start an ownership club along the lines of Bristol's TBM Club. “We are looking for companies to put together a club for a Beech 200 aircraft. The aircraft will be bought as soon as everything else is put in order,” said Holmberg.
The project, which goes under the name of Herjeflyg, has set a limit of six companies. “It’s almost like a fractional ownership project. We’re looking to go into it with other companies firstly to keep costs down, but there are many ways in which companies benefit from joint ownership.
“After looking at various aircraft, it became clear that the Beech 200 would suit our needs of a
high performance turboprop,” said Holberg.
Flights are expected to be mainly around Scandinavia with trips over to mainland Europe scattered between. "I hope I will be one of the people flying the aircraft, but that's for the owners to decide,” added Holberg.
The Bristol-based TBM Club was founded earlier this year by Charles Hack. He has targeted the scheme at private pilots and companies who want to have an aircraft based in Bristol to fly around Europe. The first in the scheme, a brand new TBM 700, was bought for £1.5 million and has been split among six separate shareholders, each contributing a sum of under £60,000. Hack told EBAN that he'd be happy to set up another TBM 700 group in the future, at a hub in Birmingham East Midlands, Leeds or the London area.
