‘Uncooled’ EVS chosen for Citation X and Sovereign
Cessna has joined with Max-Viz to bring an Enhanced Visibility System (EVS) to the marketplace as an option for new Citation X and Sovereign aeroplanes. Said a spokesman: “This cockpit tool will provide greatly enhanced situational awareness to the flight crew, reducing the risk of runway incursion accidents as well as avoiding ground based objects during times of low visibility.

“The EVS2000 provides dual band coverage that will make runway lights as well as terrain and traffic visible in obscured situations. It employs patented sensor fusion technology to combine images from two different infrared sensors to create a single ‘best of both’ image.”

In addition to new aircraft, it will also be available for Citation Xs already in service. Cessna says the Max-Viz system was chosen over other systems due to the reliability of the ‘uncooled’ system as compared to cooled products also on the market.
