Execair upgrades Glasgow facility
In a continued effort to expand and upgrade its facilities across Europe, Execair has doubled the size of its Glasgow lounge and relocated its East Midlands operation. “At Glasgow the lounge has been redecorated and new furniture added. The facilities are housed in a modular building and we worked with the British Airport Authority to bring in another unit, which over a period of time was joined up and knocked through.”

In a continued effort to expand and upgrade its facilities across Europe, Execair has doubled the size of its Glasgow lounge and relocated its East Midlands operation. “At Glasgow the lounge has been redecorated and new furniture added. The facilities are housed in a modular building and we worked with the British Airport Authority to bring in another unit, which over a period of time was joined up and knocked through.

“At East Midlands the original facility was part of the engineering shed, an acquisition that the company made a couple of years ago. We’ve now moved into the main terminal, taking over some office facilities and refurbishing them into a lounge area. Previously you had to come through the main terminal anyway, so now the passengers have much easier access to the lounge facilities. We can also walk them through security to get direct access onto the aircraft,” said David Best, Execair's commercial director.

Execair is carrying out these refurbishments in an effort to ensure that all its operations come up to a uniform standard. “We’ve always said that we want comfortable and convenient lounge facilities, so it’s a case of keeping them modern. The space we had at Glasgow for example we felt was a little inadequate, so we’ve now given passengers much more seating. They also have far more privacy,” said Best.

The company revealed that another major refurbishment project was in the pipeline, although planning permission still needs to be secured. There is also a plan to open in Saint Martin in the Caribbean, hopefully by September. “Now when you look across the Execair sites, the facilities in East Midlands, Glasgow, Dublin, Shannon, Cardiff and Inverness are all the same.

“There’s a uniform set of colours, single style furniture and the passengers feel comfortable

with what we’ve got and how it looks,” he added.
