Reims expects certification of F406NG at end of 2001
Reims Aviation is launching a new version of its F406 called the F406NG (New Generation) in order, it says, to meet customer demand. The aircraft will be on display at the Le Bourget Airshow in June 2001 and the first one will be delivered to Japanese customer Daihyaku Shoji, on completion of its certification at the end of 2001.

The new twin-engine turboprop is said to combine power and safety and, thanks to an upgraded engine specification from 2x500HP to 2x635HP, the F406NGS has a reduced take-off distance and an increase in its single-engine performance.

Reims has also increased the useful load of the F406NG, with the maximum take-off weight rising from 4,500kg to 4,700kg. The three-blade propeller has been replaced by a four-blade propeller to further increase the aircraft's performance.

The F406NG has a new interior and new flight instrument panel with liquid crystal displays.

Said a company spokesman: "Following the success of the F406, Reims Aviation wishes to consolidate its position among the world's aircraft manufacturers with this high performance aircraft. The company is seeking international partners."
