Bombardier acquires leading online air charter company
Bombardier Aerospace has announced the acquisition of Skyjet.com, the real-time air charter reservations service. Based in Washington DC, Skyjet.com was founded in 1997. Some 230 charter operators currently participate in the reservations system, representing 1,300 business jets in the US and Canada. The web site is said to locate the best charter solution in the US industry and allows users to book directly online.

"This agreement with Skyjet.com now places Bombardier - already the second largest user of business jet charter in America - in a solid position in the charter industry," commented Rob Gillespie, pres-ident of Bombardier Aerospace Business Aircraft.

"Moreover, we are entering the dynamic e-commerce world with a partner committed to ensuring that corporate aircraft customers get the most from their precious business and leisure time."

Stated Trevor Cornwell, chief executive officer at Skyjet.com: "Our goal is to constantly make air charter more readily available to increasing numbers of people who need to travel."
