TAG Aviation has submitted applications to lease the whole Farnborough Airport site from the MOD and to operate all the airport related facilities. TAG says that planning permission is expected later this year and that all the work needed to obtain a CAA licence should be completed in late 2001.

This, says TAG, will involve major works on the aerodrome infrastructure including a new control tower, instrument landing system and approach, runway and taxi lighting.

By 2006, the company plans to build a base on the north west side of the aerodrome, with new passenger, administration and operations facility and modern hangarage for aircraft and aircraft related business.
