Air Medical's Seneca is now sporting thoroughbred colours
A Piper Seneca owned by charter company Air Medical has been re-registered and painted to suit its client, Highclere Thoroughbred Racing Limited, which makes its money acquiring racehorses for consortium buyers. The Seneca, formerly G-BXXY, has been decorated in the company colours and dubbed G-HTRL, the company's initials. Glen Salt, operations manager at Air Medical, elaborated: "Highclere came along at the end of last season because they were coming in and out with our aircraft to race meetings. They wanted to be identifiable for the summer season."

A Piper Seneca owned by charter company Air Medical has been re-registered and painted to suit its client, Highclere Thoroughbred Racing Limited, which makes its money acquiring racehorses for consortium buyers. \rThe Seneca, formerly G-BXXY, has been decorated in the company colours and dubbed G-HTRL, the company's initials. Glen Salt, operations manager at Air Medical, elaborated: "Highclere came along at the end of last season because they were coming in and out with our aircraft to race meetings. They wanted to be identifiable for the summer season."\rEBAN talked to Harry Herbert of Highclere about his reasoning behind the livery: "The point of the plane is, with horses running over the country, and quite a number of people involved who lead busy lives, we thought this would be the way to transport them to see their horses run.\r"Highclere have a sponsorship agreement with a champagne company, so while on board, owners can enjoy complimentary bubbly as they are ferried between races," said Herbert. \r"Over 18 months, we looked at anything from helicopters to aeroplanes, a lot of different companies. \rAir Medical were particularly accommodating, they understood the benefits from their side, we worked out a deal which will be good for both of us. \r"Highclere is a well known name in racing, anything we do we want to put our brand on. \r"For Air Medical, they were very happy to go along with that," said Herbert, "and now we have an aircraft in our own colours." \rSo, will Highclere now look towards buying an aircraft all of its own, EBAN wondered? "This is a sort of trial," Herbert replied. "If it's successful, as I hope it will be, we may do the same with a larger aircraft. \rWe intend to increase the number of horses we have running in France. The other day we had a runner in Paris, so we took the Seneca, but needed two more. \r"The good thing about the Seneca is that it can often land at the actual race course - some have landing strips. \r"But if trips to Europe increase, as I hope they will, we will look at something different," Herbert concluded.
