TAG promises £60 million to develop Farnborough FBO
TAG Aviation has submitted a formal planning application to Rushmoor Borough Council for its planned redevelopment of Farnborough Aerodrome as a dedicated business aviation facility, serving London and the south east. As reported in July's EBAN, TAG has already assessed the work that needs to be done to accommodate business jets at Farnborough. Initial planned investment runs to £20 million to ensure that the facility meets CAA safety standards. A further £40 million will be invested in new buildings and the creation of a new terminal area.

\rA further £40 million will be invested in new buildings and the creation of a new terminal area. Permission is being sought for 25,000 movements per year, and TAG has stated that it intends to review the situation once 20,000 movements have been logged with regard to environmental issues, particularly noise levels. \r"We will ensure that this site meets the stringent standards of the CAA and we will ensure that the council, the people of Farnborough and the community around about are thoroughly consulted on our proposals," said Roger McMullin, chief executive of TAG Aviation. \rTAG is also proposing that 12.5 per cent of the aerodrome's movements should come from aircraft of more than 50 tonnes in weight: "This is because some of the most advanced business jets weigh up to 80 tonnes and it is most important that Farnborough is seen to be able to cater for this sector of the market. This is essential for commercial viability - and commercial viability is the key to the investment case," stated a spokesman for TAG.
