Optica Ir Technologia, a Lithuanian firm which supplies equipment for swimming pools, has bought and registered a Beechcraft Baron B55A, based at its headquarters in Vilnius. Marius Ptasheka, managing director of Optica, said: "We are happy with the aeroplane. We use it for transportation of parts, people and services in situations when we have to react very fast. We also use it for business." \rThe B55A supports the company's operations in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Russia, where Optica has regional offices. Ptasheka qualified as a pilot in 1991, although he has been too busy to fly the B55A himself: "I love flying, and I understand the advantages of having a business aircraft," he said. "That's why we decided to buy the Baron." According to Ptasheka, there are between 22 and 25 private business aircraft operating in Lithuania, for businesses or as air taxis, and he anticipates increasing numbers.
