Aerostar Aircraft says that development activities for its new light jet the FJ-100 are progressing at a rapid pace. The preliminary type board meeting has been held. Senior project engineer William V Leeds and his staff met with the FAA in Kansas City, where the certification plan was submitted and accepted by the FAA. More recently, the compliance checklist for certification was submitted by Aerostar Aircraft and accepted by the FAA.\rEarlier this year, Williams International entered into an agreement with Aerostar Aircraft Corporation to supply its new FJ33-1 1,200lb thrust engines to Aerostar. Prototype fuselage tooling has been developed and manufactured and a test article fuselage has been fitted and is currently being used for functional tests of the tooling.\rThe FJ-100 is a six to eight seat twin fan jet aircraft. It is projected to cruise at 400 KTAS and offer a range of up to 1520 nm. Its planned certified ceiling is 41,000 ft. and Aerostar claim that it will have the lowest operating costs in the industry for an aircraft of its type. First flight of the FJ-100 is scheduled by August of 2001, according to Aerostar, and deliveries will begin in July, 2002. The current introductory price is US$1.895 million, and Aerostar reports that several orders have been placed for the new light jet.
