Following a starring role in the development of the BMW Rolls-Royce BR700 family of engines, Professor Günter Kappler has been named senior vice president of engineering at Fairchild Aerospace. He is replacing Reinhold Birrenbach, who is moving into an advisory role after 38 years with Fairchild and Dornier. The company is hoping that Kappler will bring his extensive experience in aerospace engineering to bear on the development of a family of aircraft which will 'revolutionise the air transportation system of the future'.
