Designing custom interiors of aircraft is a time-consuming process that can prove a costly exercise too. Gulfstream has sought to ease the process by introducing its Gulfstream Premium Interiors packages, designed to offer customers broad flexibility in selecting interior components while cost-effectively packaging the most popular interior choices.\rThe packages comprise the most popular features selected by the majority of Gulfstream customers including a full avionics suite with satellite communications, global positioning system, terminal collision avoidance system, multiple communications channels, choice of entertainment systems, choice of forward or aft galley and flexible mid-cabin configurations, combined with a range of choices of leathers, wood veneers, custom hand-tufted carpets, plated finishes and imported and domestic fabrics.\rGulfstream believes that this new design programme will help customers manage the cost of the interior while allowing the manufacturer to deliver the aircraft sooner. Aircraft completions are carried out at five locations in the US. In another move to improve after sale service for customers, Gulfstream has announced that it is expanding its ServiceCare prog-ramme to include all GIV/IV-SP and GV aircraft. Previously, the nose-to-tail guaranteed hourly cost maintenance programme include only new GIV-SP aircraft.\rLarry Flynn, senior vice president, Aircraft Sales, explained the thinking behind the scheme. "Expanding the Gulfstream ServiceCare programme simplifies maintenance management for all GIV and GV operators. It eliminates any guesswork in budgeting time, money and resources to aircraft maintenance."\rThe programme was originally launched in 1997 and covers every part, component, assembly and system on the aircraft, as well as the costs associated with engine mid-life inspections, overhauls and loaner engines. It is said to provide operators with the ability to manage maintenance budgets over a ten-year period. Parts and labour are covered for both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including labour for access and closure, Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins and Customer Bulletins. The expanded programme will be managed by Doug Wendt.
