Hamburg-based Wiking Helikopter Service GmbH is celebrating a landmark in its 24-year history. The company have transferred 30,000 offshore marine pilots without any accidents. Twin-engined Sikorsky S-76 helicopters configured for off-shore work, equipped and certified according to Instrument Flight Rules are used for the sea pilot service on a 24-hour basis. The helicopters are manned usually by two pilots and one winch operator, maintenance is carried out by Wiking. In addition to off-shore work, Wiking carries out EMS and executive flights. The company is 51 per cent owned by VTG-Lehnkering AG from Duisburg/Hamburg and 49 per cent by Helikopter Service AS, Stavanger.
