Islander research
Britten-Norman is to take part in a UK Government instigated research programme utilising experimental Hartzell propellers to reduce the noise impact of general aviation. The propellers will be fitted to a North East Police Air Support BN2B Islander and have a 'scimitar' planform to achieve a minimum acoustic footprint for the aircraft. The UK Department of Transport is keen to reduce aircraft noise, particularly for night time flying over urban areas.
