ERDA has unveiled a patent-pending design for side-facing aircraft divans that will satisfy FAA 16g requirements, thereby allowing these seats to be occupied during all phases of flight. The Divantage system works by incorporating stowable backs on the divans that can be extended for take-off and landing and retracted during cruise flight, preserving window views. Optional extras include a variety of doors and drawers, in-arm video/IFE screens, food trays, plug-ins and berthable tops. While the new divans have already been ordered for several BBJ and Galaxy aircraft, the technology is compatible with virtually all executive aircraft. A working Divantage system will be on display at this year's NBAA convention in Atlanta. Customer deliveries will begin shortly thereafter.
