Hard sell for added Chieftain
Centre Line Air Charter now has a Piper Navajo Chieftain, with which to attract more business. It was re-registered approximately one month ago, having undergone a complete respray and moderate internal refit. Phil Brockwell, commercial manager, told EBAN: "We don't believe in dressing them up to look like what they're not. We believe a Chieftain is an air taxi and that's what it looks like inside."

We believe a Chieftain is an air taxi and that's what it looks like inside."\rRegarding the company's plans for the 8-passenger (plus crew) aircraft, Brockwell said: "With this Chieftain, we will be satisfying the requirements that we already deal with and also increasing business. "We do a lot of crew movements for the larger airlines, we do a lot of air taxi work, we do some oil rig crew movements, shipping crew movements, lower level vip work, and we carry a lot of businessmen with meetings around Europe. The Navajo Chieftain will be used for all this work."\rCentre Line Air Charter says the largest increasing part of its business at the current time is brokerage, with much work involving Citations, Lear 35s, Jetstreams and Bandeirantes. Brockwell said: "Because of people's commercial flying, there's been a market trend by the brokers to move away from Chieftains and Senecas. As a result of that, airlines such as ourselves and our competition have had to proactively market direct to clients and we can't rely on the brokers any more punting our product for us. \r"We spend approximately two hours a day just on outgoing calls, trying to find new custom for the aircraft." As regards plans for more aircraft, Brockwell said: "The next aircraft will probably be something like a 406 or a Bandeirante or even a 421.
